Back to life, back to reality

Dear Sweet Sweet Readers,

Your love and support via the internet has made me a better person.  Your devotion to this blog is what makes my words turn from verbal diarrhea to literary prose-ish.  Please know that I have not deserted you for good.  Rather, I have been away collecting stories that will soon appear on this blog.  As a teaser … stories contain some, if not all, of the following:

15 year old bartender, cows and dogs galore, motorbike adventures, accusations of a threesome, fame via a local newspaper, an unofficial body guard, 2 drivers and 3 maids, a little ganja, a bag in the face, and much much more.

All my love,

Jillian

Our Future is Bright

EVERYONE I need your help.  The job hunt has officially begun and I am in full search-apply-search-some-more mode.  Luckily for me, and you, this hunt does not require any camo clothing nor bright orange hunters hat.  I have, however, equipped myself with the necessities; computer, internet, business cards, and lots and lots of coffee.  My resolve is good, my dedication lasting and my morale high.  I will have a meaningful job I tell you; I will.

Enough about me, let’s talk about you.  I need your help.  That’s right, I mean YOU.  You right there reading this blog.  I have become an ardent believer in 6-degrees.  Meaning, you ask?  Meaning, you, even if you don’t know it, can help me.  It’s as easy as 1-2-3.

1. Take a look at My CV.

2. Read my personal profile/mission statement/focus/goal below.

3. Pass along my CV to anyone that you know who might be able to help.  If you don’t know someone directly, someone you know probably knows someone who does … 6-degrees magic!  Family.  Friends.  Past and present colleagues.

4. Help me make my dreams come true.

Personal Profile/Mission Statement/Focus/Goal:

Seeking to apply an extensive background in Economics and Gender Studies to a position in international development around the subjects of economic growth and gender empowerment.  Location: Anywhere and everywhere.

Finally, give yourself a giant hug on my behalf.  I am for-e-ver grateful for any and all help.  Questions, comments, advice … email me.

La Dolce Vita

Yesterday was a difficult day, but every storm is followed by a calm, right?.  Let’s hope.  I feel like the universe has been horrible to me lately.  I just need a break.  Just one little break that I can then turn into a great opportunity, and then a life changing experience, and then a meaningful career and life.

So I just woke up and am feeling like this day will be a little better than the last.  Here comes the calm after the storm, I think.  Also I received a lovely email from my host, Ron, last night.  He suggested I write about all the good things in my life to help cheer me up.  I think that’s a great idea.  Here it goes …

  1. Ron, my host.  I couldn’t ask for more.  He and his family have taken me in, assisted me when I’ve been in trouble, introduced me to everyone they know, and helped heal the wounds of life as a foreigner.
  2. Will, my brother, who let’s me complain for hours to him over gchat.
  3. Aminta, Lauren and Beth, my BFF’s over here, who take me out for dinner and drinks when I’m having a bad day.  They are such good listeners and I love that we can all relate on the various pains of being a foreigner.
  4. Naima, my new roommate who rocks.  I love living with her.  She’s so easy going.
  5. A course of study that I still enjoy and am continually learning from.
  6. The ability to finance my education through the Rotary Scholarship and US Federal loans.  Just having this option means my education can be made real.
  7. Living in London where there’s always something to do and someone to meet.  I love the shopping here.  The wandering the streets.  The discovering new neighborhoods.
  8. Living in London which allows for easy travel throughout Europe and some of Africa/Asia.  I love love love this!  So convenient and inexpensive.

… amen.
